If you are doing research on the best single person fishing raft out there, watch this video to learn about Big Sky's Water Master Kodiak. I've been rowing these boats for over 15 years and have a lot experience using them. I've done plenty of day trips and taken them on 5 day camping trips as well. They are great boats, though there are a few downsides that I talk about.
Gorgeous evening fly fishing in a lake from a canoe
Просмотров 83Месяц назад
This was an amazing calm evening on a lake in Pennsylvania. While I didn't catch anything it was fun trying to see if I could entice any bass or bluegill to the surface throwing dry flies. Love listening to the frogs becoming active in the evening. The canoe is an Old Town prospector, nice and light, and relatively quiet, great for lake work.

Im guessing your fishing was rough due to cold front? But still looked fun. We also encountered strong wind on lake 4 and had to power paddle across it.

    Hi! I just saw your comment on Geeky Nerdy Techy's RUclips video where he compared the G9ii with the Sony FX30. So was in the same opinion of yours! I come from the GH5 and I'm looking to get a second camera. This will maybe the G9ii or GH7. Both cameras has the same sensor ;). What I love from my GH5 is the compatibility with the Panasonic Image App that allows me to monitor myself trough wifi on my iPhone or Android. That's pretty cool! Can you still do that with the G9ii? It's really a great app. I can switch my GH5 to manual focus for instance and still be able to pull focus with my phone. Waiting for your response, Subscribed :)

    Awesome review man! There's not enough in depth reviews on the kodiak so I truly appreciate you taking the time to make a quality review, especially one after owning it for a while. How is the kodiak on flat water/lakes? I'm sure it's slow and requires a lot of paddling, but does it seem bogged down to the point where you're breaking a sweat just to move at all? I've been on the fence between the kodiak and the clearwater (which you actually mentioned a few times, which was awesome). Have you had any experience with the clearwater, or have any thoughts between the two? I'd love to hear your thoughts and would appreciate any feedback! Thanks again for a great video/review on the kodiak man!

    • @TheFlyFishingFilmmaker
      @TheFlyFishingFilmmaker Месяц назад

      The kodiak and grizzly are actually pretty good on still water, I find that using fins is pretty easy, and you move pretty well with it. One thing I have found is that there is a sweet spot between power and speed, and if you start to over power the boat it actually doesn't go as fast. I haven't actually used my buddies clearwater on stillwater, so I can't comment. But I would guess with the longer line and rocker, it'll be a faster boat on still water. The downside IMO is if you are running boulder gardens in a river, the longer line can make it harder in some situations to weave through rocks ... but again I think these are just little downsides to each, and both actually perform great in both applications. Maybe one day we'll do a swap and I can do a comparison video.

    Great video and review! Thanks. How is the durability of the raft components themselves? Abrasions? Rocks?! Branches? The fear is at some point, you're always patching and gluing and chasing small pin hole leaks or a torn this or a worn that! As a solo fisherman - mostly - I'm wondering if I shouldn't just get a small jon boat as I don't always have someone to shuttle a rig, etc... Mostly on small reservoirs or a river with plenty of access to the boat launch I launched from. Thanks and have a great weekend!!

    • @TheFlyFishingFilmmaker
      @TheFlyFishingFilmmaker 2 месяца назад

      The durability has been great so far. I do this trip every year that is really low water and there is lots of dragging and bumping rocks. The boat has done great. I think some of it comes from your skills on the oars, but if you aren’t doing anything crazy the boat will last a really long time. Jon boats seem great for stillwaters, but rivers I do, you wouldn’t want a jon boat. But again comes down to types of rivers you do.

Also a tip for people, if you use the setting, just map it to one of the custom modes and you have it ready without need to go to slow & quick -settings.

    • @ddsdss256
      @ddsdss256 3 месяца назад

      @@TheFlyFishingFilmmaker The initial problem was that apparently, you can only have one *.lin file in the root of the SD card to update that specific lens. The weird thing is that I tried that and initially it stalled, but IIRC, I changed to another lens and it updated, followed by a second (also successful), and when I tried again with the first lens, this time it worked. Interestingly, the procedure is different depending on the body (G9 v. G9M2).
